Paul McCartney performs Beatles classic again after 60 years at Taylor Swift’s wedding

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce and their wedding guests witnessed Beatles history made when Paul McCartney performed “I Want to Hold Your Hand” live for the first time in more than 60 years.

The music legend was among the many celebrity guests invited to the couple’s wedding. McCartney was one of many who performed during the reception, including Stevie Nicks.

According to People, Swift’s mother welcomed guests into the reception hall after the ceremony, where a stage had been set up for the evening’s performances. McCartney surprised attendees by performing the Beatles classic, which he had not played live since the band’s early days and had never performed during his solo career.

McCartney last performed the song live in September 1964 during the Beatles’ concert at New York’s Paramount Theater, Rolling Stone reported.

McCartney and Swift have shared a longtime friendship, supporting each other’s music over the years. Their bond extends beyond professional respect. The two appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” issue in 2020, where Swift considered McCartney as “the loveliest person alive.”

McCartney was also spotted at one of Swift’s "Eras Tour" shows at Wembley Stadium in London in June 2024, just days after celebrating his 82nd birthday. As he made his way to his seat at the event, fans greeted and handed him friendship bracelets.

The pop superstar later showed her support by attending one of McCartney’s intimate concerts at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles on March 28.

Swift and NFL star Kelce tied the knot last Friday, July 3, during a ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
