OPM stalwart Ogie Alcasid was very much impressed after watching local artists perform during the opening of It’s Showtime’s 17th anniversary celebration on Monday, October 19.

As host of the noontime variety show and a veteran singer-songwriter, Ogie shared his appreciation for the performers who showcased Filipino music during the event.

In an Instagram post, he said their performances left him beaming with pride as the program kicked off its weeklong celebration, “Dis Is Ur Show, Disisyete!”

“My OPM heart is so happy. Hearing the music of these amazing artists earlier at the opening of our week long 17th year anniversary celebration of @itsshowtimena made my heart swell and i was smiling from ear to ear. Salamat sa musika ninyo! Mabuhay ang OPM,” Ogie wrote.

The featured performers were Earl Agustin, Mariah Deborah, Wilbert Ross, Amiel Sol, Rob Deniel, Fitterkarma, Carl Guevarra of The Juans, and Angela Ken, all of whom Ogie mentioned in his post.

Among the featured artists was Rob Deniel, who previously gained attention for his covers of Ogie's songs “Nandito Ako” and “Ikaw Sana,” bringing the veteran singer-songwriter’s music to a younger audience.

The anniversary kickoff also featured a "futuristic" production number led by Vice Ganda, followed by solo performances from the show's other hosts. Joining Vice were Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Karylle, Ogie Alcasid, Amy Perez, Darren Espanto, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Ryan Bang, Jackie Gonzaga, Ion Perez, and Cianne Dominguez, along with girl group Baby Dolls.

The celebration also brought back the segment “Cash-Ya,” where Team Vice and Team Vhong faced off, and featured the celebrity edition of “Ms. Q&A,” dubbed “Celebrity Talakera.”

Ralph de Leon was crowned Reyna Talakera 2026 Grand Winner in the pageant-style competition, taking home a crown, a sash, and ₱50,000.

The competition continued on Wednesday with another batch of celebrity contestants, with Ethel Booba winning the women's edition. Pokwang finished as first runner-up, while Candy Pangilinan placed second runner-up.

More performances and special segments are expected throughout the week as "It’s Showtime" continues its 17th anniversary celebration.
