Lee Do Hyun and Go Youn Jung are reuniting for “Nambeol,” marking their third collaboration and their first film project as co-stars.
On July 20, Hive Media Corp announced that Lee Do Hyun had joined the cast of the film, which will also star Lee Byung Hun and Go Youn Jung. His casting was officially confirmed by the production company after Go Youn Jung joined the cast on July 7.
Lee Do Hyun and Go Youn Jung have worked together in the apocalyptic horror series “Sweet Home” and the fantasy-thriller series “Death Game.” While they have shared the screen twice before, “Nambeol” will mark their first time appearing together in a film.
According to the official synopsis, the upcoming martial arts action film is set during the early Joseon dynasty and follows nine warriors from different backgrounds as they travel to Tsushima Island to rescue captives abducted by Japanese pirates.
Lee Byung Hun will portray the character of Im Eok, the leader of the group of warriors, while Go Youn Jung will portray Ae Ryeong, a strong-willed and independent character.
Lee Do Hyun will take on the role of Bo Gyeong, a highly skilled warrior who leads the punitive force at the forefront of the mission and serves as Im Eok’s loyal right-hand man.
“Nambeol” will be directed by Lee Mo Gae, who is known as the cinematographer behind the 2003 horror film “A Tale of Two Sisters.” Lee Do Hyun previously worked with Lee Mo Gae on the hit horror mystery film “Exhuma,” where Lee Mo Gae also served as the cinematographer. According to Soompi, their previous collaboration is believed to have contributed to Lee Do Hyun’s casting in the project.
The film is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming in the second half of 2026.
