Lance Reblando, Chamyto Aguedan cast as new Barbs for ‘Die Beautiful: The Musical’

The IdeaFirst Company has announced that Lance Reblando and Chamyto Aguedan are the new Barbs in “Die Beautiful: The Musical,” continuing the legacy of one of the most recognized characters from the beloved film franchise.

The stage adaptation of the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) hit “Die Beautiful” will bring Trisha Echeverria’s story of friendship, identity, and resilience to live audiences.

Reblando, who recently portrayed Julia in the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) “Walang Aray,” will play Barbs, Trisha’s roommate, professional makeup artist, and loyal best friend. Reblando will alternate with Chamyto Aguedan, who is currently part of GMA’s primetime series “The Master Cutter.”

Both performers revealed that they earned the role through a rigorous audition process. IdeaFirst described Reblando as bringing her stage experience, comic timing, and dramatic presence to the character. Aguedan, meanwhile, is set to bring his own distinct humor, personality, and screen energy to Barbs.

The role was first brought to wider audiences through Christian Bables’ performance in the original “Die Beautiful” film. His portrayal earned him Best Supporting Actor honors at the Gawad Urian Awards, Metro Manila Film Festival Awards, and FAP Luna Awards.

On the character’s significance in the story, Bables said, “Si Trisha ang mukha ng Die Beautiful, tayong mga Barbs ang puso.” Reblando and Chamyto shared the same sentiment, recognizing Barbs as an important part of Trisha’s journey.

The two actors join the previously announced lead stars, “Drag Race Philippines” alums Maxie Andreison and Viñas Deluxe, who will alternate as Trisha Echeverria.

Penned by original film writer-director Jun Robles Lana and directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio, with music by Vince Lim, “Die Beautiful: The Musical” will make its grand stage debut in June 2027 at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati.

More details about the complete cast, creative team, and ticketing information will be announced soon.
