Kris Aquino recently revealed that she is preparing for another treatment for her worsening autoimmune diseases. She also promised her sons, Josh and Bimby, that she will keep on fighting.
In an Instagram post on August 1, the TV host and actress opened up about the difficult medical journey she has been facing and the painful moments she has chosen to keep private.
“I promised my sons I was going to fight until the end,” Kris wrote, explaining that she has never shared the full details of her previous treatments that did not work or the nights when her pain became overwhelming.
The 55-year-old revealed that there were times when she cried until sunrise because of the severe pain she felt from several inches above her knee down to her ankle and even the soles of her feet. Kris admitted that she eventually broke her own rule and sobbed in Bimby’s arms.
The mother of two said she never wanted her children to see her suffering, believing that parents should be the ones carrying the worries for their children.
“No child, especially one raised by a single parent, should ever see the pain their mama or papa goes through because to worry is ours and not theirs,” she wrote.
Kris also shared a touching moment involving her eldest son, Josh, who noticed that she had not been sleeping well for several nights. She said her nurses had asked Josh to let her rest, but she could hear him asking if he could only say “hello” to his mother.
Trying to hide her emotions, Kris said she buried herself further under the comforter. She did not want Josh to see her tears. However, Josh noticed her tear-streaked face and immediately comforted her. She recalled Josh telling her, “Mama please don’t cry, I love you, I’ll make you bantay. Mama here’s my arm.”
Kris said being held by Josh and resting beside him, where she could almost hear his heartbeat, gave her comfort and hope. Those moments, she said, remind her why she continues to fight.
The actress-host also revealed that her next infusion is scheduled for Wednesday. Despite the difficult road ahead, Kris said she continues to draw strength from her sons, whom she described as her “6’3" and 6’2" giant babies” who pray every day and believe that God answers prayers.
The health update came as Kris remembered her late mother, former President Corazon Aquino, who passed away 17 years ago.
Kris reflected on how her mother’s memory continues to stay with her, especially when she sees families experiencing conflict. She said those moments make her think, “Sorry mom, you never deserved any of that.”
Kris Aquino has been undergoing treatment for multiple autoimmune conditions in recent years and has continued to keep her supporters updated about her ongoing medical journey.
