KC Concepcion bonds with stepdad Kiko amid rift with sister Frankie

KC Concepcion recently shared a bonding moment with her stepdad, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, on social media, as her half-sister, Frankie Pangilinan, admitted that she and KC have not spoken in a long time.

KC, 41, took to Instagram to share photos of her and Kiko having dinner together, describing the get-together as something she had been missing.

“Finally... date night with Dad missed this. Good food, great stories, the best life advice. LOVE quality time with my family,” she wrote.

“More family QT soon @kiko.pangilinan,” KC added.

She also congratulated her mother, Sharon Cuneta, for her drama flick “Honor Thy Mother” which will premiere on Prime Video on September 11.

KC’s post comes after Frankie, 25, recently opened up about her relationship with her older sister in an interview. Frankie acknowledged that they have not been in contact for quite some time. 

While she chose not to discuss their family’s private matters in detail, she made it clear that their lack of communication has not changed how she feels about KC.

“Out of respect po for my parents, I may not divulge so much information, but I can say this confidently—that she will always be my sister,” Frankie said. “There’s no way around that.”

Despite their issues, Frankie dispelled the notion she sees KC differently because they have different fathers.

“Never ko pong naisip na half-sister ko siya,” she said. She emphasized that, as far as she is concerned, KC has always been her sister.

“Of course, biologically, that’s true, but as far as I’m concerned, I love her very much, and I think I can say I miss my sister very much,” she said. “We haven’t really spoken in a very long time.”

Frankie chose not to go into details on the family matters they are dealing with, saying only that they are working on them, just like any other family.

She also recalled that whenever she bought cakes for their parents, she would still write KC’s name on them. Frankie said her love for KC has never been in question. 

She also revealed that she looked up to her older sister while growing up and, for a long time, simply wanted to be like her.

“I think with me and Ate kasi, you know, there’s a large misconception I think about the dynamics of how that works, ang laki ng age gap namin. For a very long time, I was a kid and I just wanted to be like my Ate. I love my Ate so much,” she said.

KC had previously unfollowed Kiko and Frankie on Instagram, but she is now following both of them again.

Frankie is Sharon Cuneta’s daughter with Senator Kiko, while KC is Sharon's  firstborn with actor Gabby Concepcion. Sharon and Kiko also have two other children, Miel and Miguel.

Meanwhile, Frankie is set to make her acting debut in the historical biopic “Edjop,” which stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Cedrick Juan and Elijah Canlas. The film is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on September 16.
