Kai Montinola sings the Filipino version of ‘How Far I'll Go’ from ‘Moana’

Filipina singer and actress Kai Montinola has been handpicked to perform “Hangganan Ko,” the Filipino version of “How Far I’ll Go,” for Disney’s live-action “Moana.” 

The track has been released on digital platforms and features her two-minute Filipino rendition as part of the film’s soundtrack rollout. 

Alongside the release, the 19-year-old is also set to perform the song live on July 8 at SM Mall of Asia and on July 12 at SM Seaside Cebu, giving fans in both Luzon and the Visayas a chance to see her perform the new Disney track live.

Fans congratulated Kai with some saying how proud and excited they were at how far she has come in her  showbiz and music career. “Our very own Disney princess,” one fan commented.

Since finishing as the 4th big placer in “Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11” in 2024, Montinola has steadily built her career in entertainment, pursuing both acting and music. 

She released her debut album “Kaileidoscope” last year and made her acting debut in the drama series “Saving Grace.” She also starred in a “Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode alongside Kyle Echarri and later reunited with him in the action-thriller drama “Roja.”

Disney has been localizing Moana’s music for Filipino audiences even before Kai's rendition. Belle Mariano previously performed the Filipino end-credits track “Anong Daratnan” for the animated film “Moana 2,” while Janella Salvador covered a version of the main theme song “How Far I’ll Go” for the original 2016 animated film.
