After three years of recuperating, Sunshine Cruz is back. The actress-singer recently confirmed that, after getting medical clearance from her neurologist, she has returned to work for a guest role in an upcoming TV series.

Her long awaited return to showbiz marks her first on-screen project since 2023 when she starred in the series “Unbreak My Heart” and the film “Lola Magdalena.”

In a recent social media post, she opened up about her decision to turn down multiple film and TV projects over the past three years.

“For 3 years, I've declined movies and projects due to my mysthenia gravis. Grateful to always be considered but I didn't want to burden the prod if my AI suddenly flares up so I opted to focus on my health journey instead.”

She also shared that she recently received a call for a guest appearance in a series. While she has not revealed full details about the project or her co-stars, she said the shoot only requires about two days, making it manageable as she continues prioritizing her health.

The 48-year-old first made her diagnosis public last year. She was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis (MG), an autoimmune disease where communication between nerves and muscles break down. This leads to muscle weakness and fatigue, which typically worsens with physical activity and improves with rest, according to Cleveland Clinic.

At the height of her condition, Sunshine dealt with facial weakness and even struggled to hold up her neck. She deliberately stepped back from acting work to avoid stressing production schedules during possible flare-ups, choosing instead to concentrate on her health journey.

During her time away, she stayed active on social media, sharing updates about her fitness and personal life while focusing on family and well-being.

Now on the path to recovery, she continues to prioritize her health as she gradually returns to work at her own pace.
