Bugoy Drilon recently shared his painful childhood experiences and healing journey on "Toni Talks," thanking Toni Gonzaga for giving him a safe space to share his story.
The “Paano na Kaya” singer became emotional as he recalled growing up with his father, who, as an alcoholic, became violent when he was drunk.
The 36-year-old also shared that he also worked as a janitor and farmer before becoming a singer. His career took a major turn in 2008 when he joined the second season of the reality television show “Pinoy Dream Academy,” where he finished as the runner-up, earning the title of Second Star Dreamer.
In a recent social media post, Bugoy shared photos of him with the actress-host and thanked her for giving him the opportunity to open up about his dreams and the experiences that shaped him.
“Toni Talks, thank you so much for having me. I am grateful po, maraming salamat sa pagkakataong maging bukas at maibahagi ko ang aking mga pangarap, mga pinagdaanan, purpose at mga karanasang humubog sa akin kung nasaan man ako ngayon,” he wrote.
Reflecting on his healing journey, he added, “Muli kong naalala na ang healing ay nagsisimula sa pagiging tapat sa sarili sa pagtanggap sa mga pinagdaanan, pag unawa sa mga aral, at pagkakaroon ng lakas na magpatuloy at mas kumapit sa salita ng ating Panginoon.”
He also expressed his appreciation for Toni’s “word of wisdom and guidance.”
Addressing the actress-host directly, Bugoy continued, “Toni Gonzaga-Soriano, thank you for giving me a safe space to tell my story and to share how God has changed me.”
Bugoy also addressed those who may be facing their own struggles. “To everyone, please keep going. Hindi kayo nag-iisa.” He reminded them that the chapter they are now in is only part of a bigger story.
"Magtiwala sa proseso. Heal yourself through his words mas magagandang kabanata pang naghihintay. God bless you all,” he concluded.
Bugoy's message came as he continues a new chapter in his music career. Last March, he released “Anthems,” his first independent full-length R&B album since becoming an independent artist. The nine-track album features co-written songs such as “Empty House,” “Favorite Season,” and “Habang Buhay.”
He recently shared the live performance of “Habang Buhay” on YouTube on September 18. The performance also marked the premiere of the first episode of his new digital series, “Bugoy Drilon Live,” on his official YouTube channel.
