Brent Manalo says 'No to Pax Silica,' cites risks to farmers

Actor and “It’s Showtime” host Brent Manalo has expressed his opposition to the proposed Pax Silica AI Hub, a project that has sparked widespread discussion on social media in recent days.

In his latest post on X, the 28-year-old made his stance clear. “NO TO PAX SILICA,” he wrote.

Manalo voiced his concerns over the planned development, saying it could have serious consequences for farmers in Tarlac and pose other risks to the community.

“Tarlac heavily relies on agriculture for its sustenance and marami sa magsasaka namin ang posibleng marelocate at mawalan ng kabuhayan dahil dito. And this is just one of the many risks it poses. The 1.6k hectare AI-hub promises to be innovative but at what cost,” he said.

Fans and netizens quickly supported Manalo with many applauding him for using his platform to speak out on the controversial project.

Others also expressed their support, with one saying, “Thank you for speaking up on this.” Another netizen added, “Wow. Just a few sentences, but a powerful message. Proud of your bravery, Brent.”

However, not everyone shared the same opinion. While many expressed opposition to the project, others voiced their support, with comments such as, “Kaya third world tayo eh,” and “Yes to Pax Silica.”

Brent also took the opportunity to raise awareness about the issue during a recent "It’s Showtime's Miss Q&A" segment.

“Sa mga di pa nakakaalam, marami pa ang hindi nakakaalam niyan, iyong nangyayari ngayon. Iyong Pax Silica na 1,600 hectares of land ang makakamkam if ever man na matuloy iyong proyekto na ito sa Tarlac which is ang [hometown] namin ni Kuya Ion,” he shared on the noontime variety program.

The proposed Pax Silica AI Hub has drawn concern from environmental advocates, residents, and various groups. The planned high-tech industrial zone will be developed in New Clark City, Tarlac, as part of the Philippines' partnership with the United States under the international Pax Silica Initiative.
