Anne Hathaway, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA and more dazzle on the Met Gala carpet

Actor Anne Hathaway walked the red carpet alongside fashion designer Michael Kors at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual gala in New York on Monday (May 4).

Other guests included pop stars SZA and Sabrina Carpenter, Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek and tennis player Serena Williams.

Williams's sister and fellow athlete Venus Williams serves as one of the co-chairs for the Met Gala along with Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour.

The annual fundraiser, held on the first Monday in May, raises money for the museum's Costume Institute and is timed to celebrate the opening of its major spring fashion exhibition. This year's dress code is "Fashion is Art," inviting guests to interpret fashion as an embodied art form.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, lead sponsors of the gala and exhibition, serve as honorary chairs.
