Angelica Jones, Sachzna Laparan address controversy over "Miss Flawless" cover

Actress-turned-politician Angelica Jones and content creator-actress Sachzna Laparan have both broken their silence on the controversy surrounding the 2019 remake of “Miss Flawless” performed by Flow G and Honcho featuring Sachzna.

Speaking on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Angelica clarified her connection to the track, emphasizing that while Lito Camo composed it under Star Records, she was the original artist.

"Ang kantang Miss Flawless, original na kumanta ng Miss Flawless, ako po talaga."

Angelica explained that Camo retained the song's rights alongside Star Records, but recalled the composer advising that anyone wishing to use the track should seek her permission first.

She recounted being approached by the production team in 2019 for a cameo in the music video. Eager to support the project and promote Laguna, her home province, where she was serving in a tourism-related role, she agreed to participate.

Transitioning into public service, she requested a modest appearance. "Hindi ako pwede magsuot ng mga sexy outfit, kasi honorable na ako. Siguro pwede kikay-kikay."

However, after setting aside time for the shoot, Angelica was told the filming was canceled, only to discover later through Laguna Tourism that production had  proceeded without her.

"Sabi ko, 'Ano nangyari? 'Di ba may shooting ngayon? 'Di ba kasama ako? What happened?'"

Directly disputing claims that she was unavailable or unwilling to accommodate the crew, Angelica called out the production team. She also addressed her awkward run-ins with Sachzna at public events, revealing that the content creator never acknowledged her.

"Ang akin lang naman kasi, ilang beses na kami nagkita sa event, wala man sabihing, 'Hi, hello, sorry po, or thank you.'"

Clarifying that she isn't looking for a prolonged feud, Angelica stressed that she simply wants accountability: "Hinihintay ko lang naman is, sorry and thank you, that's it."

Addressing the allegations in a Facebook video, Sachzna explained that after six years of silence, she felt compelled to share her side of the story.

"For the longest time, mas pinili ko pong manahimik. Pero this time, feeling ko, kailangan ko na pong magsalita at masabi 'yung side ko."

Sachnza said coordination was handled entirely by her management and production team, who hold text and call logs from 2019 that cannot be publicly released due to legal considerations.

She also said she and her mother met with composer Lito Camo twice, obtaining his approval and offering a token of appreciation before filming.

She confirmed Angelica was initially part of the concept, but claims the cameo fell through due to conflicting schedules. "Hindi po nagtugma-tugma 'yung mga schedules namin dahil sobrang busy niya po sa kanyang anak, sa politics."

Addressing allegations of disrespect at events, Sachzna admitted feeling uncomfortable around Angelica after years of public backlash. "Naging awkward na rin kasi for me... genuinely, hindi ko na rin po alam kung papaano pa siya i-approach."

Despite their differing accounts, Sachzna maintained her respect for the former actress and offered an apology for the misunderstanding. She added that she is willing to drop the "Miss Flawless" moniker altogether if it means preserving her peace of mind.

"Mas importante po sa akin ang respeto, katahimikan, at peace of mind."
