Time for EU to launch joint borrowing and challenge US dollar, says Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron urged the EU to pursue joint borrowing, such as eurobonds, arguing it would strengthen Europe’s financial power and help challenge the dominance of the U.S. dollar. He warned that failing to use the bloc’s borrowing capacity amid a global technology investment race would be a major strategic mistake.

The European Union should launch a means of joint borrowing, for example through eurobonds, as it would help challenge the hegemony of the U.S. dollar, French President Emmanuel Macron said in newspaper interviews published on Tuesday.
"The EU is under‑indebted compared with the United States and China. In a moment of a technological investment race, failing to use this borrowing capacity is a profound mistake," Macron told several papers, including Le Monde.
