Argentine President Javier Milei called on governments worldwide to stop interfering with artificial intelligence companies during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday (January 21).
"Politicians must stop bothering the people who are making the world better," said Milei, comparing AI to Adam Smith's pin factory and describing it as a driver of increasing returns that could enhance growth and well-being, according to his remarks at the annual gathering in the Swiss mountain resort.
The libertarian president also highlighted his administration's implementation of 13,500 structural reforms since taking office in 2023, which he said have created a more dynamically efficient economy allowing Argentina to grow again.
Milei concluded his address by urging the West to return to its foundational ideas of freedom, drawing on Greek philosophy, Roman law, and Judeo-Christian values. The speech comes as Milei continues to promote free-market policies and deregulation as central pillars of his economic agenda.
