Following are companies that have suspended operations in Japan's Kumamoto and nearby prefectures after a magnitude 7.1 quake hit the area on Tuesday, killing at least 17 people.

Following are companies that have suspended operations in Japan's Kumamoto and nearby prefectures after a magnitude 7.1 quake hit the area on Tuesday, killing at least 17 people.


AEON KYUSHU 2653.TSeventeen of Aeon Kyushu's 40 stores in Kumamoto prefecture have temporarily suspended operations. Its shopping mall in Kumamoto is badly damaged after a post-quake explosion, and rescue workers are working round-the-clock to locate people trapped or unaccounted for.


AISIN 7259.TAisin, one of Japan's largest automotive parts suppliers and a core member of the Toyota Group, has halted its plant in Kumamoto City. It is inspecting damage to facilities while working to restore operations.


EBARA CORP 6361.T


The pump maker halted operations at a factory in Nankan town that manufactures semiconductor production equipment.


HONDA MOTOR 7267.T


Japan's second-biggest automaker is suspending operations at its Kumamoto motorcycle factory through Friday to allow repairs to quake-damaged parts of the plant.


MELCO MOBILITY SOLUTIONS


The Mitsubishi Electric 6503.T group company said operations at its Kumamoto production site remain suspended while safety inspections continue.


NIPPON PAPER INDUSTRIES 3863.T


The company's Yatsushiro mill was affected by the collapse of a chimney, disrupting operations and leaving workers missing or injured.


NISSAN MOTOR 7201.T


Nissan Motor Kyushu and Nissan Shatai Kyushu, both located in Fukuoka Prefecture, will partially suspend production this week due to earthquake-related delays in the supply of parts.


RENESAS ELECTRONICS 6723.T


The company has suspended operations at its Kawajiri plant in Kumamoto City and Nishiki plant in Nishiki town. The semiconductor manufacturer began inspections of clean-room facilities on Wednesday morning to assess any damage to buildings and equipment.


SONY SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING


Operations at Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing's Kumamoto Technology Centre remained suspended as of Wednesday, said its parent, Sony Group Corp's 6758.T Sony Semiconductor Solutions. It said it was evaluating damage to the site's building and manufacturing lines.


TOKAI CARBON 5301.TThe carbon products maker and one of the world's largest graphite electrode manufacturers halted all production at its plant in Kumamoto. Detailed checks of equipment and facilities are ongoing.


TOKYO ELECTRON 8035.TThe semiconductor manufacturing equipment maker halted operations at two Kumamoto facilities. It is preparing to fully resume production from the start of next week.TOYOTA MOTOR 7203.TOperations at Toyota Motor Kyushu's Miyata, Kanda and Kokura plants in Fukuoka Prefecture will be suspended from the second shift on Wednesday to the second shift on Friday, taking into consideration safety, logistics, and the status of its suppliers, the automaker said.
