China plans to introduce an export licence system for around 300 steel products starting in 2026, aiming to monitor shipments amid rising global protectionist concerns.
China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday that the requirement for an export license for some 300 steel products aimed to strengthen monitoring and tracking of exports and complied with World Trade Organization rules.
China said on Friday that it planned to roll out a license system from 2026 to regulate exports of the metal, as robust shipments have fuelled a growing protectionist backlash worldwide.
