Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte on Monday clarified that he and city government personnel had no knowledge of Vice President Sara Duterte holding any financial or official interest in Gencorp Industries Inc., a firm that has secured 19 city contracts since 2022.

In an official statement, Mayor Duterte noted that neither Vice President Duterte’s name nor the surname “Duterte” appears in any documents submitted by Gencorp, including its Articles of Incorporation.

“I, and all other officials and employees of the City Government of Davao, never had any knowledge of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte holding an interest in GENCORP INDUSTRIES INC.,” he said.

The mayor issued the statement to address what he described as “unconfirmed reports” alleging that the city had engaged in approximately ₱14.32 million worth of transactions with the firm.

Correcting those figures, Duterte revealed that a recent review conducted by the city government showed the total gross value of transactions with Gencorp actually stands at ₱33,263,161 across 19 separate contracts awarded since 2022.

Of those 19 contracts:

  • 13 have been fully completed.

  • 6 remain ongoing.

  • 4 were awarded through competitive public bidding.

  • 15 were secured through small-value procurement, as permitted by procurement laws.

Duterte emphasized that Gencorp underwent evaluation for every transaction and consistently met legal requirements by submitting the lowest calculated responsive bid or offer. Furthermore, all 19 transactions were processed, reported, and publicly disclosed through the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS).

Maintaining that all dealings were strictly "above board," the mayor challenged critics to support any contrary allegations with verified evidence and official documentation rather than speculation.

He warned the public against falling for "deceptive claims" and "orchestrated narratives" driven by political motives, stating that he chose to address the issue directly ahead of any formal proceedings because the people of Davao City deserve complete transparency.
