People brave extreme heat during Pope’s visit to Assisi

Faithful pilgrims braved scorching temperatures in Assisi on Thursday (August 6) to pray with Pope Leo during celebrations marking the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis. Italy placed all 27 monitored cities under the highest heat alert as temperatures neared or topped 40°C (104°F) in parts of the country.
