Aerial footage captured on July 9 showed parts of France's Loire River reduced to a narrow stream, with vast sandbanks exposed as an intense heatwave gripped the country. Temperatures were forecast to reach as high as 41°C, prompting the highest-level heat alerts in several regions and raising concerns over drought, wildfires, and water shortages.
