No pets left behind: Taiwan remembers pets during Hungry Ghost Festival

As Taiwan's pet owners increasingly treat their animals like members of the family, a Taipei temple is extending traditional Hungry Ghost Festival rites to deceased pets, allowing people to honour them alongside human ancestors with memorial tablets, food offerings and prayers for the afterlife.
