Weston McKennie’s busy year shows no signs of slowing down, with ESPN reporting Wednesday that the United States men’s national team midfielder is close to signing a contract extension with Juventus.
McKennie has been with Juventus since 2021, including a brief loan to Leeds United in 2023. His current contract was set to expire at the end of this Serie A season, but his new deal is reportedly set to run through 2030.
Since joining Juventus, McKennie has scored 15 goals in 161 appearances. On the international stage, he has 11 goals in 62 appearances for the U.S. men’s national team, dating back to 2017.
Born in Washington, D.C., McKennie grew up in Texas and also spent time in Germany, where his father served as an officer in the United States Air Force. He came up through the FC Dallas youth system before moving to FC Schalke 04 in Germany.
McKennie is expected to play a key role for the U.S. men’s national team during the World Cup this summer, with all U.S. games scheduled to be played on home soil.
