LONDON – Tottenham Hotspur manager Igor Tudor received a stark reminder of the challenges ahead after his side suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday.

Fans had hoped for a “new manager bounce,” believing Tudor could inspire the team against an Arsenal side under pressure in the Premier League title race. Instead, Arsenal dominated, securing their biggest league win against Spurs since 1978.

Tudor acknowledged the gap between the sides, highlighting both psychological and physical differences. “A lack of confidence is very evident in the team. I'm very sad and very angry, but it’s also good to understand where our goal is,” he said. “Working hard is the only way.”

With 11 games left, Tottenham sits in 16th place, just four points above the relegation zone. Their recent form is alarming, having not won a Premier League game in 2026 and only claiming two home victories this season. Over the last 12 matches, Spurs are bottom of the table, five points behind Nottingham Forest and West Ham United.

Tudor, who replaced Thomas Frank this month, faced further challenges with injuries and suspensions. The team fielded only 13 senior outfield players, with captain Cristian Romero suspended until next weekend’s match at Fulham.

“It was too much Arsenal for us in this moment with the problems we have,” Tudor said. “We need to restart, work harder, change our habits, and shift our state of mind as a team.”

Spurs now face a critical period as they fight to avoid relegation, with each remaining match becoming increasingly vital.
