INGLEWOOD, California — The Switzerland national football team defeated the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team 4-1 on Thursday at Los Angeles Stadium, moving to the top of World Cup Group B after a second-half surge led by substitute Johan Manzambi.

After a quiet first half, Switzerland broke the deadlock in the 74th minute when Manzambi made an immediate impact off the bench, volleying home just three minutes after being introduced. The goal opened the floodgates for the Swiss attack.

Ruben Vargas extended the lead before Manzambi struck again to complete a brace. Bosnia and Herzegovina briefly responded through Ermin Mahmic, giving their supporters a moment of celebration, but Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka sealed the result with a penalty to cap a commanding performance.

The win gives Switzerland four points from the group stage and leaves them needing just one point from their final match to secure a place in the Round of 32 as group winners or runners-up. They will face Canada in Vancouver on Wednesday, while Bosnia and Herzegovina, with one point, will meet Qatar in Seattle. -Reporting by Rory Carroll in Inglewood, California, Editing by Ken Ferris/Reuters
