Swedish defender Isak Hien was forced to leave the match with an apparent left hamstring injury during the first half of Sweden’s Group F clash with Japan on Thursday night in Arlington, Texas.
Hien went down inside the penalty box after extending his leg in an attempt to block a cross from Japan’s Yukinari Sugawara. He immediately received treatment on the field before being helped off, unable to continue.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall, 20, came on as a substitute for Hien, while captain Victor Lindelöf of Aston Villa dropped back to fill the defensive role. The match remained tightly contested, with both sides combining for just three shots on target in a scoreless first half. -Field Level Media/Reuters
