MANCHESTER, England – Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as the Red Devils came from behind to beat Fulham 3-2 in a thrilling Premier League clash on Sunday. The victory marked another highlight in United’s resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick.
United took control early, with Casemiro opening the scoring in the 19th minute after heading home Bruno Fernandes’s free kick. Matheus Cunha extended the lead in the 56th minute with a clever finish following a no-look pass from Casemiro through Fulham’s defense.
Fulham fought back late, with Raul Jimenez converting a penalty in the 85th minute after being fouled by Harry Maguire. Kevin then struck a powerful equalizer in the 91st minute, his first Premier League goal for Fulham, leaving Old Trafford tense.
But second-half substitute Sesko delivered the decisive moment in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Fernandes found the Slovenian striker in the box, and Sesko smashed the ball into the top corner after previously hitting the post, sending the home fans into jubilation.
The win moves United into fourth place with 41 points, while Fulham dropped to eighth. The result continues a remarkable turnaround for United since Carrick took charge, following the January 5 departure of Ruben Amorim.
“This was a big game,” Carrick said. “Every game is a big game and we have to treat it like that. Today was tough, but we got it in the end. I’m so delighted for Ben. To win the game in front of the Stretford End, there’s not much better than that.”
Sesko echoed his manager’s praise, saying, “It was unbelievable. Scoring the winner at home is a dream come true. We work hard as a team and it’s paying off.”
Fulham midfielder Emile Smith Rowe expressed his frustration at the late defeat. “I thought the boys fought hard to get back into the game. It’s annoying to concede straight after equalizing.”
