Houston Dynamo secured a convincing 4-1 win over host Los Angeles FC on Sunday night, powered by a standout performance from Jack McGlynn, who scored twice to lead the attack.
McGlynn recorded his second career brace, while Guilherme and Mateusz Bogusz also found the net as Houston extended its strong run, winning four of its last five Major League Soccer matches. Lawrence Ennali contributed two assists in the victory, helping orchestrate a sharp offensive display.
Jonathan Bond made five saves for Houston, which improved to 6-5-0 and reached 18 points. On the other side, Los Angeles FC dropped to 6-3-3 with 21 points despite outshooting Houston 20-12 and matching them with six shots on target. Hugo Lloris finished with two saves for LAFC.
Houston opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Ennali set up McGlynn outside the box. McGlynn took a running strike and fired a powerful left-footed shot into the top right corner.
Nine minutes later, Guilherme doubled the lead from a free kick. His effort deflected off the LAFC wall before looping into the net to make it 2-0.
LAFC pulled one back just before halftime in the 45th minute. Jacob Shaffelburg delivered a cross from the left that eventually reached Nathan Ordaz, whose left-footed shot deflected off a Houston defender and into goal.
Houston restored control early in the second half. In the 51st minute, Mateusz Bogusz scored against his former club after a rebound fell to him following an initial save by Lloris, allowing him to finish into the left corner.
Just four minutes later, McGlynn struck again. Ennali set him up inside the box, and McGlynn calmly placed a left-footed shot inside the far post to complete his brace.
McGlynn came close to a hat trick in the 42nd minute when another powerful attempt hit the left post.
LAFC were without star forward Denis Bouanga, who served a suspension due to yellow-card accumulation, a notable absence in their attacking setup. -Field Level Media/Reuters
