SOCCER: Guillermo Ochoa and Mexico train ahead of Ghana friendly

Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa hit the training pitch with his Mexico teammates on Wednesday (May 13) as they prepare for a friendly against Ghana in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup.

The veteran goalkeeper is widely expected to be included in coach Javier Aguirre's squad for the World Cup, which Mexico will co-host along with the United States and Canada from June 11 to July 19.

Ochoa is set to become one of the few players to appear at six World Cups, alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who are all widely expected to play in 2026 and who previously represented their countries at Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.

The 40-year-old has suggested the 2026 campaign will likely be his last World Cup.

Mexico will host Ghana in a friendly in Puebla on May 22.

The hosts will complete their World Cup preparations with additional friendlies against Australia on May 30 and Serbia on June 4.

Mexico will play in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup on June 11 against South Africa.
