Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has been sidelined for the final six games of the La Liga season due to a torn left hamstring, but he is expected to return to action in time for the World Cup, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Yamal sustained the injury during Barcelona's 1-0 win over Celta Vigo on Wednesday. The 18-year-old forward had a significant moment in the match when he was fouled inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Yamal took the spot-kick himself and converted it in the 40th minute. However, as soon as the ball found the back of the net, Yamal did not celebrate. Instead, he immediately grasped his left hamstring, signaling an injury.

In a statement, Barcelona revealed that Yamal will follow a "conservative treatment plan" and will avoid undergoing surgery.

Taking to Instagram, the young superstar shared his disappointment with his 41.6 million followers. The message, translated from Spanish, read:

"This injury leaves me off the field at the time I most wanted to be, and it hurts more than I can explain. It hurts not being able to fight with my teammates, not being able to help when the team needs me. But I believe in them, and I know they're going to drop their souls in every game."

He continued, "I'll be there, even if it's from the outside, supporting, encouraging and pushing as one more. This is not the end; this is just a break. I'll come back stronger, more eager than ever, and next season will be better."

Yamal's goal against Celta Vigo was his 16th in 28 La Liga appearances this season and his 24th across all competitions. The victory left Barcelona with a comfortable nine-point lead over second-place Real Madrid in the league standings.

Looking ahead, Spain will compete in Group H of the World Cup, with matches scheduled against Cape Verde on June 15 and Saudi Arabia on June 21 in Atlanta, followed by a game against Uruguay on June 26 in Zapopan, Mexico.

Yamal’s performances in recent years, including his instrumental role in Spain's victory at UEFA Euro 2024, have firmly established him as one of the most promising young talents in world football. With six goals in 25 appearances for the Spanish national team, Yamal is expected to continue his meteoric rise on the international stage.

As Yamal prepares for his recovery, his fans and teammates eagerly await his return, knowing that the best is yet to come.
