Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada has introduced Senate Resolution No. 377 calling for the highest commendation to be awarded to the 101-member Philippine delegation to the Asian Beach Games, following the country’s best-ever performance in the competition.

The Philippines secured fifth place overall—behind host China, Thailand, Iran, and Vietnam—marking a major improvement from its 17th-place finish in 2016.

“Their exceptional achievement and rise in the Asian medal standings, built through years of dedication and hard work, have brought immense pride and honor to the nation. They are truly deserving of the highest recognition and praise,” Estrada said.

“This historic finish further raises the bar for Philippine sports and underscores what Filipino athletes can achieve with adequate support and effective sports development programs,” he added.

The biennial even was held from April 22 to 30 in Sanya, China, and organized by the Olympic Council of Asia.

The event featured more than 1,600 athletes representing 45 countries.

The Philippine team brought home a total of nine medals: three gold, four silver, and two bronze, reflecting the country’s improving performance in beach and water-based disciplines.

Gold medalists included Leonard Grospe in men’s high jump, Annie Ramirez in the women’s 57-kg category, and Alexandria Luz Enriquez in the women’s 63-kg division.

The Gilas Pilipinas Women also earned a silver medal in the 3x3 basketball event.

Additional silver medalists were windsurfer Dhenver John Castillo, jiu-jitsu competitor Emily Thomas, and the women’s relay squad composed of Jessica Rose Laurance, Kristina Marie Knott, Lianne Diana Pama, and Shane Joy Ponce.

Bronze medals were won by Laurance in the 60-meter dash and Jenna Kaila Napolis in jiu-jitsu.

“By conquering new heights in the Asian Beach Games, our athletes have shown what Filipinos can accomplish with proper backing. Their victory is not only theirs, but the nation’s,” Estrada said.
