Senate honors PH Barebow Archery Team for Asia championship wins

The Senate on Wednesday adopted Senate Resolution No. 394 honoring the Philippine National Barebow Archery Team for its medal haul at the 2026 Asia Barebow Championships held in Shah Alam.

The Philippine squad secured one gold medal and two bronze medals in its debut appearance at the tournament, outperforming more than 700 archers from various countries.

The resolution was sponsored by Robinhood Padilla, who said the athletes’ achievement should inspire Filipinos and encourage continued support for local sports representatives competing internationally.

"May they serve as inspiration to every Filipino to dream big, work hard, and with all their heart, fight for our flag wherever they are in the world," he said in Filipino.

Archers Rowena Galicano, Josephine Galicano, and Ma. Razel Rechilda Abella captured the gold medal in the women’s division after defeating host country Malaysia.

In the men’s category, Elizer Junior Villarosa, Joseph Tan, and Kenneth Marlowe Tan clinched the bronze medal.

Villarosa and Josephine Galicano also teamed up to secure another bronze medal in the mixed team event.
