LOS ANGELES – Tickets for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will go on sale to the general public on April 9, organisers announced Monday. LA28 also reassured fans about ticket security by naming verified resale platforms that will operate starting in 2027.

A local presale for residents in qualifying areas of Los Angeles and Oklahoma City will begin on April 2. Notification emails for selected buyers will be sent from March 31 through April 4, LA28 said. On April 7, remaining registrants will be informed whether they were selected for the first general sales round, known as Drop 1.

"This week marks the first opportunity for fans to claim a seat at the LA28 Olympic Games," said LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover.

Ticket Prices and Availability

LA28’s ticketing program includes 1 million tickets priced at $28, the lowest price point. About 5% of tickets will cost over $1,000, while more than 75% of tickets, including finals, will be under $400. Nearly half of all tickets will cost less than $200.

"Tickets are comparable to—and in many cases well under—prices for other professional sporting and major entertainment events in the U.S.," said Allison Katz-Mayfield, LA28 Senior Vice President for Games Delivery Revenue.

Verified Resale Programme

LA28 confirmed its verified multi-platform resale program will open in 2027. AXS and Eventim will serve as official secondary marketplaces, while Ticketmaster and Sports Illustrated Tickets will also be verified resale platforms.

The announcement aims to protect fans from unauthorised sellers. Primary tickets will only be sold through official ticket providers, and any tickets offered for resale before 2027 should not be considered verified.

"Having multiple resale platforms is critical to giving fans multiple points of access to verified tickets," Hoover said.

Local Presale Details

Fans registered for the LA28 ticket draw with billing postal codes in qualifying counties were automatically entered into the local presale draw. Selected buyers will have 48-hour purchase windows from April 2 to April 6 and must use payment methods linked to eligible postal codes.

For both the local presale and Drop 1, buyers have 48 hours to complete purchases, with a 30-minute limit for items in the cart. Multiple transactions are allowed up to the ticket limit.

Tickets will be available for all Olympic sports, the opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, and the closing ceremony at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Buyers may purchase up to 12 tickets for Olympic events, plus up to 12 for the soccer tournament, while ceremony tickets are capped at four per buyer.

Fans not assigned a time slot will be entered automatically into future draws. Paralympic tickets are expected to go on sale in 2027.

Official ticket-inclusive hospitality packages from On Location are also expected in April. Visa will be the official payment method.
