Miro Heiskanen scored just 22 seconds into overtime, following a strong third-period performance by Mavrik Bourque, as the surging Dallas Stars outlasted the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Sunday.

In the opening moments of extra time, Heiskanen received a pass from Matt Duchene and chipped the puck past Chicago goaltender Arvid Soderblom, helping Dallas bounce back after its club-record 10-game winning streak ended with Friday’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Chicago raced to a 2-0 lead within the first nine minutes of the game but eventually trailed 3-2 late in regulation. With 1:20 remaining and Soderblom pulled for an extra attacker, Blackhawks star Connor Bedard unleashed a wrister through traffic that deflected off Dallas defenseman Tyler Myers and past netminder Casey DeSmith to tie the contest. DeSmith finished with 16 saves, while Soderblom made 27.

Dallas, trailing 2-1 after two periods, quickly tied the game just 42 seconds into the third. Bourque’s shot hit the post, and the puck ultimately crossed the goal line after a scramble in front of Soderblom, with Chicago’s Frank Nazar and the goalie colliding in the crease.

Bourque was again involved in giving Dallas its first lead with 10:20 remaining in regulation. During a power-play sequence, his pass found Justin Hryckowian, whose stick redirected the puck past Soderblom amid heavy net-front pressure.

Chicago, struggling through a 2-7-4 stretch, opened the scoring at 6:59 of the first period. Tyler Bertuzzi, well-positioned in front of the Dallas net, redirected a shot from Artyom Levshunov. Less than two minutes later, Sam Rinzel scored off a feed from Teuvo Teravainen following a turnover forced by Oliver Moore behind the Dallas goal.

Dallas responded late in the opening frame, with Lian Bichsel’s point shot deflecting off Nathan Bastian to make it 2-1. Chicago managed only 10 shots on goal through the first two periods, relying on Soderblom to maintain its slim lead before the dramatic finish.
