Noah Cates scored at 2:17 of overtime to give the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, extending their road win streak to five games.
Cates converted a rebound off a Matvei Michkov shot, deflecting it off the left skate of Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal and just inside the right post at the end of a 2-on-1 break for the game-winning goal.
Luke Glendening and Owen Tippett also scored for Philadelphia (32-23-12, 76 points), moving the Flyers within six points of the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings for an Eastern Conference wild-card spot. Goalie Dan Vladar made 34 saves, helping Philadelphia win for the fifth straight time against Anaheim and the seventh time in their last eight meetings.
For the Ducks (37-27-4, 78 points), Cutter Gauthier scored a power-play goal and had an assist, while Leo Carlsson also scored. Dostal finished with 24 saves as Anaheim claimed the overtime point, moving into sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division.
Philadelphia opened the scoring at 2:51 of the first period. Glendening, playing his first goal since February 23, 2025, for Tampa Bay, received a pass from Cam York after a steal along the left boards and roofed a backhand past Dostal.
The Flyers increased their lead to 2-0 midway through the second period when Tippett tapped in a rebound from Travis Sanheim’s shot from the left point. Anaheim pulled one back on a power play, with Gauthier scoring his 35th goal of the season with just 38 seconds left in the period.
In the final minutes, the Ducks tied the game when Carlsson slammed in a rebound of Troy Terry’s shot at 1:54, sending the match into overtime. The Flyers nearly won seconds earlier when Glendening deflected a Garnet Hathaway shot off the left post.
