Forward/center Anthony Davis, who has yet to play for the Washington Wizards since being traded on Feb. 5, has been cleared to begin limited individual on-court basketball activities, the team announced Thursday.

Davis, recovering from ligament damage in his left hand, was re-evaluated Wednesday by Dr. Steven Shin of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The Wizards said Davis is making progress and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Turning 33 next week, Davis has not played since Jan. 8 while with the Dallas Mavericks. Speculation has been strong that he may not return this season.

This season, Davis appeared in just 20 games with Dallas, averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. Over his 14-season career, he has averaged 24.0 points and 10.7 rebounds in 807 games (800 starts) with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans (2012–19), Los Angeles Lakers (2019–25), and Mavericks.

A 10-time All-Star, Davis was the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade in February 2025 that sent Dallas star Luka Doncic to the Lakers. After joining the Mavericks, Davis played only nine games last season due to injuries.
