Washington Wizards guard Trae Young earned an ejection before ever stepping on the court for his new team.

Young, who is set to make his debut on Thursday night against the Utah Jazz, was ejected Monday during Washington’s 123-118 loss to the Houston Rockets for leaving the bench area.

The four-time All-Star, acquired from the Atlanta Hawks in early January, stepped onto the court to protest a non-call against Rockets’ Tari Eason in the third quarter. He was assessed a technical foul and ejected. Eason was also ejected.

Young has been sidelined with MCL and quad injuries since before the trade. He last played on Dec. 27, scoring nine points and recording 10 assists in a 128-125 loss to the New York Knicks.

A career 25.2 points-per-game scorer with 9.8 assists per game, Young announced on social media Monday that he was aiming for Thursday’s game for his return.
