San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama posted 26 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, and four assists as the Spurs cruised past the host Miami Heat 136-111 on Monday night.
The victory marked San Antonio's sixth straight win and extended their impressive run to 22-2 since February 1 — the best record in the NBA during that span. With Wembanyama on the floor, the Spurs have now won 11 consecutive games.
Dylan Harper and Keldon Johnson led the bench scoring with 21 points each, while Stephon Castle added 19 points. Castle (hip) and Devin Vassell (hamstring) returned from injuries, with Vassell contributing six points.
Miami, meanwhile, dropped its fifth straight game, tying its longest losing streak of the season. The Heat face another tough matchup on Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Norman Powell led Miami with 21 points, while Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro added 18 points each. Despite returning from injuries, Powell, Andrew Wiggins (nine points), and Jaime Jaquez Jr. (eight points) were unable to halt the skid.
San Antonio started strong, leading 38-31 at the end of the first quarter behind De’Aaron Fox’s 10 points and a 6-of-13 shooting performance from beyond the arc. The Spurs also held a 10-0 advantage in second-chance points in the period. Miami kept pace by shooting 50% from the field and gaining a 9-2 edge on fast-break points.
The Spurs extended their lead to 76-58 at halftime. Wembanyama paced all second-quarter scorers with 11 points, and San Antonio shot 59.1% overall with 4-of-9 from three-point range. For the half, the Spurs shot 52.0% from the floor and 45.5% from three (10-for-22), while Miami shot 47.7% overall and 38.1% from deep.
San Antonio reached 100 points on a Harper 3-pointer with 2:19 left in the third quarter, ending the period with a 108-81 lead. Miami struggled in the quarter, shooting just 26.9% and connecting on only 3-of-16 three-pointers.
The Spurs maintained control in the fourth quarter, finishing with a 60-40 edge in paint points and a 17-6 advantage on offensive rebounds, securing a comfortable 136-111 victory.
