Victor Wembanyama dominated the stat sheet with 25 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and five blocks to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 112-103 victory over the visiting Orlando Magic on Sunday.
The game faced multiple delays, originally scheduled for 3:12 p.m. CST but postponed twice—first to 6 p.m., then to 8:12 p.m.—due to travel issues. The Spurs' charter flight from snowbound Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday was delayed, followed by a mechanical problem Sunday morning. San Antonio did not arrive in the city until 3:25 p.m.
Despite the setbacks, the Spurs showed no signs of fatigue in the second half of a road-home back-to-back that started with a loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. San Antonio led 86-79 after three quarters and maintained control throughout the fourth. Devin Vassell’s jumper put the Spurs up 100-87 with 6:30 remaining, and Wembanyama’s alley-oop dunk extended the lead to 110-93 with just over two minutes left.
Vassell added 16 points, Dylan Harper scored 15 off the bench, Keldon Johnson and De’Aaron Fox contributed 14 each, and Julian Champagnie finished with 11. Fox also dished out 10 assists as San Antonio continued their pattern of alternating wins and losses over the past seven games.
For Orlando, Desmond Bane led the way with 25 points, while Paolo Banchero recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Black added 11 points. The Magic played without Franz Wagner, who rested a sprained left ankle, while the Spurs were missing Stephon Castle due to adductor tightness.
The Spurs jumped to an early lead, going up 33-15 in the first quarter after Harper’s runner with two minutes left. San Antonio led 37-21 after the opening period.
Orlando fought back, closing the gap to 40-38 following a 17-3 run capped by Tristan da Silva’s floater in the second quarter. The Magic briefly took the lead on a 3-pointer by Black with 6:03 left in the half and carried a 61-60 advantage into halftime. Fox led all scorers with 14 points before the break, while Wembanyama and Harper added 10 each. Banchero paced Orlando with 10 points in the first half.
The Spurs regained control early in the third quarter, with Wembanyama’s dunk at 8:29 giving San Antonio a 70-63 lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
