Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic will have an MRI on his left hamstring after sustaining an injury in the second quarter of Thursday’s game against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers, Lakers coach JJ Redick said.

The injury occurred with just under four minutes remaining in the first half during a Lakers possession. Doncic stayed in the game initially but left with 3:03 remaining in the half. The team later ruled him out for the rest of the game due to left leg soreness.

After the Lakers’ 119-115 win without their star guard, Redick said, “He felt some soreness in his hamstring, so he didn’t feel like it was good enough to go back in. Neither did medical, so we held him out. He’ll get some imaging. Too early to say if there’s an injury, but he just had a sore hamstring.”

In 16 minutes against the 76ers, Doncic recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists, along with five turnovers, including the one on the play when he was hurt.

Doncic, who has missed eight games this season, entered the game averaging an NBA-best 33.4 points per game, along with 7.9 rebounds and 8.7 assists over his first 41 contests.

The Lakers were playing their first home game in more than two weeks after completing a 5-3 road trip.
