Mikal Bridges scored 23 points and Jalen Brunson added 21, leading the visiting New York Knicks to a dominant 132-101 victory over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, marking the team’s season-best seventh consecutive win.
Bridges shot an efficient 8 of 10 from the floor as the Knicks extended their winning streak against Washington to 11 games. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 19 points and 15 rebounds, while OG Anunoby also scored 19 points. In total, seven Knicks players reached double digits in scoring.
Landry Shamet continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc, making four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points. Shamet had made six 3-pointers in New York’s 112-100 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
The Knicks shot an impressive 52.2% from the field and 45.9% (17 of 37) from 3-point range. They also dominated inside, outscoring Washington 54-40 in the paint.
However, New York faced setbacks with injuries to Josh Hart and Mohamed Diawara. Hart left the game in the third quarter after landing on a Washington player’s foot while attempting a block, while Diawara was sidelined late in the first quarter with an ankle injury.
For Washington, rookie Will Riley scored 17 points off the bench, and Bub Carrington added 14 points, including three 3-pointers. Khris Middleton contributed 12 points, while Marvin Bagley III and Alex Sarr each scored 11. The Wizards finished their five-game homestand with a 3-2 record.
The Knicks set the tone early, scoring the first seven points of the game and building a 21-7 lead after Diawara’s basket in the paint. Anunoby’s third 3-pointer pushed New York’s advantage to 34-16. By midway through the second quarter, the Knicks led 63-34 after a 14-point run in just 105 seconds, fueled by Towns’ eight points and two 3-pointers from Shamet.
New York’s lead reached 88-56 early in the third quarter following a 10-2 run and never dropped below 27 points for the rest of the game. -Field Level Media/Reuters
