Sacramento erased a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to snap a five-game losing streak behind strong performances from Schroder and DeMar DeRozan.

Dennis Schroder drilled a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Sacramento Kings to a thrilling 125-124 victory over the visiting Houston Rockets on Sunday night.

Schroder finished with 24 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds off the bench as Sacramento rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to snap a five-game losing streak.

DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 27 points and nine assists, while Keegan Murray added 26 points. Sacramento earned just its seventh win in 29 games this season. Russell Westbrook chipped in 21 points and 13 rebounds and hit a clutch 3-pointer with 14.2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

For Houston, Alperen Sengun scored 28 points and Kevin Durant recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. The Rockets dropped to 0-3 in overtime this season after falling in extra time for the third time in four games on their six-game road trip. Their other losses came against the Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans.

Amen Thompson contributed 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, while Jabari Smith Jr. also scored 18 for Houston. Tari Eason added 16 points off the bench, and rookie Reed Sheppard finished with 15.

Smith made two of three free throws with 10.4 seconds left to break a tie and give Houston a two-point lead. DeRozan then drove into the lane and kicked the ball out to an open Schroder, who calmly knocked down the game-winning shot from beyond the arc.

Durant had a chance to answer at the buzzer, but his jumper with less than a second remaining rattled off the back rim.

Houston shot 47.9 percent from the field, including 16 of 38 from 3-point range. Sacramento finished at 46.3 percent overall and made 12 of 32 attempts from long distance.

Smith buried a 3-pointer to give the Rockets a 100-86 lead with 9:58 remaining before the Kings mounted a furious comeback. Sacramento responded with 12 consecutive points, highlighted by seven from Murray and a Schroder triple that cut the deficit to 100-98 with 8:13 left.

Houston later rebuilt a five-point cushion, but DeRozan’s dunk with 43.9 seconds remaining set the stage for Westbrook’s game-tying 3-pointer moments later.

Sengun scored 18 points in the first half as Houston took a 68-57 lead into the break. DeRozan paced Sacramento with 15 points in the half. The Rockets carried a 91-82 advantage into the fourth quarter before the Kings’ late surge. -Field Level Media/Reuters
