The Formula One season continues with the Belgian Grand Prix at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the 10th round of the championship. The race will cover 44 laps of the 7.004-kilometer circuit for a total distance of 308.052 kilometers, with the start scheduled for 1:00 p.m. GMT.

Last year, McLaren enjoyed a strong weekend at Spa, with Lando Norris claiming pole position in 1 minute, 40.562 seconds before teammate Oscar Piastri went on to win the race. The current race lap record stands at 1:44.701, set by Sergio Perez for Red Bull in 2024.

Spa-Francorchamps

This year's race marks the 71st Belgian Grand Prix and the 59th to be held at Spa-Francorchamps. The historic Ardennes circuit has been part of the Formula One World Championship since its inaugural season in 1950 and is renowned for having the greatest elevation change on the calendar, as well as unpredictable weather due to its unique microclimate.

Spa is the longest circuit in Formula One and features the fewest race laps of the season. It is also one of the fastest tracks, with average speeds of around 230 kilometers per hour and top speeds reaching approximately 315 kph through Blanchimont.

Among the circuit's most famous sections are Eau Rouge-Raidillon, the Kemmel Straight, Pouhon, Blanchimont, and the Bus Stop chicane.

Four current drivers have won at Spa: Lewis Hamilton (2010, 2015, 2017, 2020, and 2024), Charles Leclerc (2019), Max Verstappen (2021, 2022, and 2023), and Oscar Piastri (2025).

Michael Schumacher remains the most successful driver at Spa with six victories, including his memorable win from 16th on the grid in wet conditions in 1995. Hamilton has the opportunity to match Schumacher's record this weekend.

Ferrari is the most successful constructor in Belgian Grand Prix history with 18 victories, including 14 at Spa, while McLaren has won the race 15 times, 13 of those at the Belgian circuit.

Although there are no Belgian drivers on this year's Formula One grid, both Lando Norris and Max Verstappen have Belgian mothers, and Verstappen was born in Belgium.

Championship Standings

Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli leads teammate George Russell by 25 points in the drivers' championship, while Lewis Hamilton is 32 points behind Antonelli.

Mercedes also leads the constructors' standings, holding a 78-point advantage over Ferrari. Defending champions McLaren are third, trailing Mercedes by 154 points.

Race Victories

Antonelli has won five of the season's first nine races. Hamilton ended the rookie's five-race winning streak with victory in Barcelona, his first win since 2024, while Leclerc claimed Ferrari's latest victory at the British Grand Prix.

Russell has won in Australia and Austria, while Antonelli has taken victories in China, Japan, Miami, Canada, and Monaco.

Mercedes has won seven of the first nine races, including the opening six rounds of the season.

Hamilton remains Formula One's most successful driver with 106 career victories from 389 starts across three teams. Verstappen ranks third on the all-time wins list with 71 victories, behind Hamilton and Schumacher, who recorded 91 career wins.

Qualifying

Mercedes has secured pole position at every Grand Prix this season. Russell started from pole in Australia, Canada, Barcelona, and Austria, while Antonelli topped qualifying in China, Japan, Miami, Monaco, and Britain.

Hamilton holds the Formula One record with 104 career pole positions, with his most recent coming in Hungary in 2023. He also owns the record for the most Belgian Grand Prix poles with six. Leclerc has taken pole at Spa three times for Ferrari.

Although Verstappen has been the fastest driver in the final qualifying session at Spa four times in the past five years, grid penalties have prevented him from officially starting from pole at the circuit since 2021.

Milestones

Leclerc's victory at Silverstone marked Ferrari's 250th Formula One race win.

Red Bull could also reach a milestone this weekend, as a podium finish would be the team's 300th in Formula One. Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, and Williams are the only other teams to have reached that achievement. -Reporting by Alan Baldwin;Editing by Alison Williams/Reuters
