MLB: Red Sox edge Orioles for 14th straight win

The Boston Red Sox extended their winning streak to 14 games with a 6-5 victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Monday night, moving within one win of matching the franchise record set in 1946.

Caleb Durbin broke a 5-5 tie with a solo home run in the eighth inning, his 10th of the season. Garrett Whitlock earned the win after pitching a scoreless eighth, while Aroldis Chapman recorded his 22nd save despite Baltimore putting runners on second and third in the ninth inning.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand homered and Gunnar Henderson hit three doubles for the Orioles, whose seven-game winning streak ended.

The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-5 behind two home runs from Jazz Chisholm Jr. Chisholm homered in the first and third innings for his 10th career multi-homer game, helping New York earn its third home win in its last 12 games.

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 10-3 in Arlington. Andrew Benintendi delivered a bases-clearing double, while Miguel Vargas finished with three hits and two RBIs as Chicago moved into first place in the American League Central.

The Los Angeles Angels rallied for a 3-2 walk-off win over the St. Louis Cardinals after Jo Adell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. Adell also homered earlier in the game.
