MLB: Cubs rout Cardinals in 10-2 Win

The Chicago Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 10-2 on Tuesday behind a strong performance from Seiya Suzuki and a dominant outing from Colin Rea.

Suzuki recorded three hits and drove in two runs, while Rea pitched six solid innings to earn his team-high eighth victory of the season as the visiting Cubs continued their strong stretch.

Ian Happ added two hits and two RBIs for Chicago, which collected 17 hits and won for the fourth time in its last five games. Pedro Ramirez contributed three hits and an RBI, Alex Bregman also had three hits, and Nico Hoerner drove in two runs.

The Cubs have recorded at least 12 hits in each of their last four games and have scored 35 runs during that span.

Rea improved to 8-7 after allowing one run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Masyn Winn drove in St. Louis' only run with a ninth-inning double as the Cardinals dropped below .500 for the first time this season at 53-54. St. Louis has lost nine of its 12 games since the All-Star break.

Chicago took control early, scoring twice in the first inning on Happ's two-run double against Michael McGreevy with two outs.

The Cubs broke the game open in the second inning, chasing McGreevy after scoring five runs on five hits. Michael Conforto started the rally with a single, while Carson Kelly reached on a walk before both advanced on Ramirez's groundout.

Conforto scored on Pete Crow-Armstrong's sacrifice fly before Suzuki and Michael Busch added run-scoring hits. Hoerner then delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded and two outs to give Chicago a 7-0 lead.

McGreevy was removed after allowing seven runs on eight hits over 1 2/3 innings, the shortest outing of his career. He walked two batters and struck out two.

The Cardinals threatened in the fourth inning by loading the bases with one out and scored on Nathan Church's sacrifice fly.

The Cubs added another run in the fifth when Hoerner walked, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Ramirez's infield single.

Suzuki drove in another run with an eighth-inning single, while Kelly capped Chicago's scoring with an RBI single in the ninth.
