LIV Golf announces return to South Africa in 2027

Not long after Bryson DeChambeau sank the decisive birdie putt to defeat Spain’s Jon Rahm in a playoff at the LIV Golf South Africa on Sunday, organizers confirmed that the tournament will return next year.

The 2027 edition will once again be held at The Club at Steyn City, near Johannesburg, after LIV Golf reported a record-setting crowd of over 100,000 fans for this year’s event. The tournament is scheduled for April 22-25, 2027.

“We are proud to welcome LIV Golf back to Steyn City in 2027 as we continue to position South Africa as a premier destination for international sport and entertainment,” said Gayton McKenzie, South Africa’s Minister for Sport, Arts and Culture.

In this year’s inaugural event, DeChambeau and Rahm finished the 72 holes tied at 26-under-par 258. DeChambeau managed a crucial par on the 18th hole to force a playoff. On the 18th tee of the playoff, DeChambeau made a birdie while Rahm missed his chance, securing his second consecutive LIV Golf victory.

The win serves as DeChambeau’s final tune-up before the Masters, which begins April 9 in Augusta, Georgia.
