GOLF: Wyndham Clark, Si Woo Kim soar in world rankings

Wyndham Clark surged up the Official World Golf Ranking following his victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, climbing 31 places to No. 44 in the latest update released Tuesday.

Clark rose from No. 75 after matching the tournament’s course record with an 11-under 60 in the final round on Sunday, finishing three strokes ahead of runner-up Si Woo Kim at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The win marked Clark’s first PGA Tour title since his triumph at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February 2024.

The 32-year-old American, who previously reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 on April 21, 2024, continues to rebuild momentum on tour with the latest breakthrough performance.

Kim also made a significant move in the rankings, jumping five spots to No. 19. The 30-year-old South Korean achieved a new career-high position after finishing second in Texas, continuing a strong run of consistent results on the PGA Tour.

Elsewhere in the rankings, Aaron Rai moved up one place to No. 14 despite not competing at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson after opting to rest following his PGA Championship victory.

At the top of the leaderboard, the Official World Golf Ranking’s top 10 remained unchanged. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler held his position despite finishing third at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, maintaining his stronghold on the top ranking spot.

The latest OWGR update reflects shifting momentum among several contenders, with Clark’s breakthrough victory and Kim’s runner-up finish emerging as the most notable movements of the week. -Field Level Media/Reuters
