J.T. Poston will not compete in the RBC Canadian Open following his victory at the Memorial Tournament over the weekend.
The 33-year-old earned a $4 million winner’s prize on Sunday after defeating Ryan Gerard in a two-hole playoff at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The win marked another milestone in Poston’s career and significantly boosted his standing in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Following the victory, Poston jumped from No. 94 to No. 39 in the world rankings. The result also secured his qualification for two major championships, the U.S. Open and The Open Championship later this season.
Despite his strong momentum, Poston opted on Monday to withdraw from the RBC Canadian Open, which is set to begin Thursday at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.
He will be replaced in the field by Ben Martin, currently ranked No. 459 in the world.
