GOLF: Marco Penge taking PGA Tour break to focus on health

British golfer Marco Penge announced on Tuesday that he will be taking a break from the PGA Tour to focus on his health.

"This week didn't go the way I wanted it to, but that's golf," Penge wrote on Instagram, days after missing the cut at the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. "Moving forward, I have decided that I am going to take some time off to get my health back to where it needs to be. Thank you for your support as always. I'll be back soon."

On May 12, Penge shared on X that he had been experiencing "ear/neck/nervous system" issues since a viral infection last November. After continuing to deal with a sinus infection and vertigo, he underwent an MRI on his brain, head, and neck.

"Thankfully, the images were great and so a few of the doubts I have had have gone away, which is a big relief," he posted.

After winning three times on the DP World Tour last season, the 28-year-old made seven cuts in 12 starts during his rookie season on the PGA Tour. He currently ranks No. 43 in the Official World Golf Ranking, after finishing last season with a career-best ranking of No. 29.
