Jon Rahm has a chance to secure another individual championship at LIV Golf United Kingdom this week, but the Spaniard said he does not expect much certainty on or off the course as the season approaches its conclusion.
Rahm, who has won consecutive LIV Golf titles, currently leads Bryson DeChambeau in the race for his third straight individual championship this season. After competing in the Open Championship, Rahm remained in England for LIV Golf’s event at JCB Golf and Country Club.
The Spaniard holds a commanding lead in the standings with 928.58 points, ahead of DeChambeau at 644.40 and Joaquin Niemann in third with 344.66 points.
Rahm defeated Niemann for the individual title in 2025, while DeChambeau finished third in the standings.
"It means a lot more than the simple fact that you're winning. It means that you're playing good golf consistently, and it means that the process has been working," Rahm said Tuesday in Rocester, England.
"I've always taken a lot of pride in being consistent and having a lot of top 10s, and I think that reflects on those wins."
Despite his strong position, Rahm said he still needs to perform well to secure the championship, adding that DeChambeau remains a major threat.
"To wrap it up this early, I still need to win, and I still need to expect a bad week from Bryson, which based on how he's been playing last week most likely won't happen," Rahm said. "I would expect a fight from him and other players, and I still need to perform at my best to finish it off."
LIV Golf is currently on a scheduled break after the United Kingdom event, with only tournaments in New Jersey at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster from Aug. 6-9 and LIV Indianapolis from Aug. 20-23 remaining before the team championship takes place in Michigan during the final weekend of August.
However, the future direction of LIV Golf remains uncertain beyond the current season. Questions have emerged over the league’s financial structure following the reported exit of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund as a major backer.
Rahm confirmed he has been in contact with LIV decision-makers but said he could not provide details about ongoing discussions.
"We know a lot of what's going on, yeah," Rahm said. "But as for those details, there are none I can share with you guys right now."
Despite the uncertainty, Rahm said he remains optimistic.
"I'm always optimistic. I play a game for a living. I can't really be too upset about how things are going in life," he said. "Even though I'm very frustrated on the course very often, off the course I'm very different to what a lot of people think."
Rahm is also coming off a disappointing performance at the Open Championship, where he finished tied for 46th at Royal Birkdale and earned $51,707. He entered the weekend tied for eighth place but struggled during the final round after a series of costly mistakes.
"If there was an overall theme for the week, it was just I simply couldn't hole enough putts," Rahm said.
"I think I did a lot of good things, and just not seeing the ball go in did get a little frustrating, as it would for anybody. Then on Sunday starting with a double and finishing with a double -- it's just killer. Having three doubles on the weekend is going to kill you."
Rahm will look to regain his form at LIV Golf United Kingdom as he continues his pursuit of another individual title while awaiting clarity on the league’s future.
