The Las Vegas Raiders have officially named Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next head coach, announcing the move in a social media post Monday.

The Raiders shared a video of Kubiak arriving in Las Vegas with his family, captioned, “Leadership in place.” Kubiak had confirmed the decision Sunday night after the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 to win Super Bowl LX.

“You guys know I’m going to Las Vegas,” Kubiak told reporters. “I’m fired up about it.”

Kubiak is the second consecutive head coach the Raiders have hired from Seattle. Last year, they brought in Pete Carroll, who had been serving as a senior adviser after his long tenure as Seahawks head coach (2010-23). Carroll lasted one season in Las Vegas, finishing 3-14 before being dismissed.

Including Kubiak, the Raiders have had six head coaches, counting interim coaches, since 2021. Jon Gruden resigned in October 2021 after homophobic and racist emails he had written were made public. Following interim Rich Bisaccia, the team went through Josh McDaniels (2022-23), Antonio Pierce (2023-24), and Carroll. Only Bisaccia led the team to a playoff game during this stretch.

The Raiders have made just two postseason appearances since reaching Super Bowl XXXVII at the end of the 2002 season and have not won a playoff game or division title in that time.

Kubiak, who turns 39 next week, is the son of former NFL head coach Gary Kubiak, who led the Houston Texans (2006-13) and Denver Broncos (2015-16) and won Super Bowl 50 with Peyton Manning.

Klint Kubiak spent just one year with Seattle, helping the Seahawks rank third in scoring offense and eighth in total offense despite quarterback Sam Darnold leading the NFL in turnovers. He previously served as offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings (2021), passing game coordinator for the Denver Broncos (2022) and San Francisco 49ers (2023), and offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints (2024).
