SAN FRANCISCO – Just three days before his highly-anticipated Super Bowl LX halftime show, Bad Bunny spoke to the media about the performance he plans to bring to Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
In a press room packed with international reporters, Bad Bunny focused on music, family, and balancing his ongoing tour while preparing for the halftime show. No political topics, no mentions of ICE or former President Donald Trump were discussed.
“To be honest, there’s a lot,” he said Thursday. “I’m still in the middle of my tour. I just was at the Grammys last week… but, of course, there’s a lot of grateful and agradecimiento (gratitude). The biggest feeling is being grateful. I’m happy but I’m just processing and taking one day at a time… I’m excited about this performance.”
Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, was named the Super Bowl LX halftime performer last September. The announcement drew criticism from figures like Trump, who called it “absolutely ridiculous,” but the NFL stood firm. Commissioner Roger Goodell called Bad Bunny “one of the greatest artists in the world.” The remarks came a day after the Puerto Rico native won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Although known for speaking out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Bad Bunny kept Thursday’s comments focused solely on the show. He did not reveal if any special guests would appear but promised an unforgettable celebration.
“I just want people to have fun,” he said. “It’s going to be a huge party, what people always can expect from me… It’s going to be easy, and people only have to worry about dance.”
For fans who may not understand his Spanish lyrics, Bad Bunny said: “They don’t even have to learn Spanish. It’s better if they learn to dance… The heartbeat dance is the only thing they need to worry about.”
Sunday will mark Bad Bunny’s second halftime appearance. He previously made a guest appearance at the 2019 Super Bowl LIV show with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. This time, he will be the main act, one of the biggest music stars in the world.
Since 2019, Bad Bunny has consistently ranked among Spotify’s top-five most-streamed artists worldwide, topping the platform in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
“I want to think it’s just… 13 minutes of doing something that I love… I’m trying to enjoy it and I know that I’m going to have fun,” he said.
When asked what he would be doing if not for music, Bad Bunny smiled: “Watching the Super Bowl at home?”
